Maldives
The Maldives is a tropical paradise on earth with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. This country has not only exotic nature, but also first-class hotels and bungalows located right above the water. The official language is Deverhi, but English is spoken in tourist centers. The official currency is the rufia, however, dollars and credit cards are accepted in all places.
Seasonality of rest:
You can fly to this country all year round. The average annual air temperature is 27-30 degrees, the water warms up from 23 to 28 degrees. The peak season in the Maldives begins in late November and ends in mid-April. Therefore, if you want to spend all day on the beach, then you should go on vacation during these months. From the end of April to November, the rainy season begins, but they are short, although abundant.
Visa requirements:
There is a visa-free regime for stays of up to 30 days. When leaving the country, you will need to pay $25 – an airport tax. Required documents: passport (valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country); return air ticket; accommodation voucher; insurance; cash at the rate of $50 per day.
Etiquette and peculiarities of the country:
In the Maldives, it is strictly forbidden to break and collect live and dead corals in the ocean, as well as near the shore. Do not throw away empty cans, bottles and other garbage on the islands. You can pay a large fine for this. Sunbathing “topless”, as well as swimming naked in the ocean, drinking alcohol outside the resort area is also prohibited by law. It is strictly forbidden to import any alcoholic beverages, even if you buy them in duty free – they will be confiscated.
National cuisine:
For breakfast, the dish “Mashuni” is quite common – a mixture of tuna, onions, coconut and chili. And with it you can try the local rice-based roshi bread. A very popular dish is rice with tuna, which is prepared differently everywhere. Hikimas are dried and smoked fish. Bananas, coconuts, and papayas are the most popular fruits here. Popular desserts are coconut and white coconut sticks – bonds.
Interesting places to visit:
Male is the capital of the Maldives. The island itself is small, so you can get around the main attractions in a couple or three hours. The most common pastime here is diving. A trip to watch whales and dolphins will be an unusual excursion.
What to bring:
A water hookah, you can buy it as a whole or in separate parts. T-shirts with inscriptions have become a form of local art here. Shark teeth (one tooth or a whole shark jaw).
