Jordan
Amazing Jordan is a country of sandy and rocky deserts with green oases, surrounded by low mountains and plains. It is the country where the main events of the Bible took place. Jordan has two seas – the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. The official language is Arabic, but English is widely used here. The official currency is the Jordanian dinar. It is better to take dollars with you, here they can be exchanged for local currency.
Seasonality of rest:
Spring and autumn are considered the most favorable time to visit Jordan, although the tourist season here lasts all year round. In summer, the weather is hot, in the north of the country the temperature is + 34-37 degrees, and in the Dead Sea areas it reaches 40 degrees. But do not forget that the temperature drops sharply at night, so take warm sweaters for night excursions.
Visa requirements:
You can get a visa 2-3 days before departure at the Jordanian Embassy in Kyiv, or apply for it upon arrival at the airport. It costs $58 and is valid for up to 2 months. Required documents: international passport (valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country); airline tickets; accommodation voucher; insurance.
Etiquette and peculiarities of the country:
It is not customary here to abuse alcohol and walk around drunk. Women need to adhere to the norms of decency in clothing so as not to cause excitement among the locals. Also, women should not sit in the front seat in a car, it is considered the height of indecency.
National cuisine:
A popular dish is makluba – a pyramid of smoking rice, with cardamom and raisins, decorated with meat, onions, cauliflower and herbs on top. Try the Arabic shawarma. Faroukh is chicken cooked on a grilled spit, as well as shish tawook, a spicy chopped chicken kebab. For the first course, try the meat soup mluhiya. The national dish of lamb in Jordan is considered to be Mensaf, which is served on a bed of rice and roasted nuts. Kunafa is an unusual dessert made of dough and cream cheese, drizzled with syrup.
Interesting places to visit:
First of all, go to Petra, a majestic pink city that is called the eighth wonder of the world. Visit the Martian desert of Wadi Rum, where numerous movies about the planet Mars are filmed. In this country, you can not only see the place of baptism of Jesus Christ, but also perform the ritual of ablution, another Christian shrine is Mount Neveu. According to legend, this is where Moses first saw the Promised Land.
